Personal Care Worker Training Program is a 40-hours professional training that prepares direct care givers to work in assisted living facilities, home health care, hospice, or in community settings, helping individuals who need assistance with daily living. This training is also valuable to those who care for elderly or disabled loved ones at home.

Direct Care Giver Curriculum is designed to:

The components listed below cover basic Medicaid Personal Care and Supportive Home Care essential activities of daily living.

1. First Aid, CPR/AED for Adults (Red Cross Certified)

2. Assistance with getting in and out of bed

3. Legal Rights/Professional Ethics

4. Interpersonal Skills/Cleaning/Toiletry

5. Understanding Care Plans/Mouth, Hair, Skin

6. Assistance with mobility and ambulation/transfer

7. Assistance dressing and undressing

8. Abuse, Neglect and Misappropriations of Property

9. Dietary Needs and Proper Meal Planning/Special Diets

10. Fire Safety/hearing aids/eye glasses


The training utilizes visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning modalities.  Competency will be measured by a trainee's ability to incorporate information and demonstrate skills, Lastly, there are assessments, written and verbal that if passed ensures that one has mastered the basics of direct care services .
